We welcome the intention to adopt a new European Union's Heating and Cooling Strategy and the launch of the consultation process by the European Commission. As the Commission rightly notes, consumption for heating and cooling accounts for half of the EU's energy consumption, and the energy transformation of this sector is progressing much slower than in the case of electricity.

Flat glass is the material that goes into a variety of end products, primarily in windows and facades for buildings, windscreens and windows for automotive and transport as well as solar energy equipment, furniture and appliances.

CEWEP represents around 500 Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facilities across Europe that safely treat around 100 Mt of non-recyclable waste each year while recovering energy and materials. These plants generate about 43 TWh of electricity and 99 TWh of heat annually, supplying energy to roughly 37 million citizens.
