C40 Cities welcomes the forthcoming Electrification Action Plan as a key component of the Clean Industrial Deal and the Action Plan for Affordable Energy. Electrification, when rooted in renewable energy and system flexibility, can power sustainable, resilient and equitable communities, reducing emissions, improving public health, and creating quality local jobs.
C40 Cities welcomes the development of a European Heating and Cooling strategy. The European Commission should develop a comprehensive, updated approach focused on heating and cooling that prioritises phasing out fossil fuels and transitioning to renewable energy systems.
