As the HVAC sector plays a central role in the decarbonisation of buildings, it is essential that the ongoing review process ensures that the screening criteria for the manufacture of mechanical ventilation systems remain technically clear, measurable, and aligned with existing energy labelling legislation.

The European Ventilation Industry Association (EVIA) welcomes the Commission proposal for a CRMA and appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback. EVIAs main message is that the CRMA should not set prescriptive requirements in the legislation itself. EVIA welcomes the European Commission’s revision proposal for the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). This revision of the CPR will be the first revision of an EU sectoral products legislation in the new era that will be framed by the draft Ecodesign Regulation.

The European Ventilation Industry Association (EVIA) welcomes the European Commissions upcoming proposal to revise Directive (EU) 2023/2413 on the promotion of energy from renewable sources (RED III). This revision is an important step in aligning the EUs renewable energy framework with the recently agreed 2040 climate target of a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

EVIA presents the following recommendations for (1) residential ventilation units and (2) non-residential ventilation units. 1) EVIA welcomes the amendment to Annex I section 3.5 for ventilation systems which refers to the "highest two significantly populated classes of energy efficiency", as EVIA recommended.

EVIA welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the European Commission's Sustainable Consumption of Goods Initiative (SCGI). Nonetheless, we would like to raise our concerns and offer recommendations in order to optimise the efficiency of the SCGI in relation to other policies that are also addressing material efficiency and sustainability of goods.
