CATF welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the call for evidence on the upcoming legislation for CO2 transportation infrastructure and markets, a key commitment in the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy. An appropriately designed EU regulatory framework will: Ensure that all emitters that need access to CO2 transport and storage infrastructure have access on equal terms (third-party access).

In this context, it is crucial that the full spectrum of geothermal energy technologies and their applications is considered and supported through a dedicated EU Action Plan on Geothermal Energy.

The EU Governance Regulation can be a key tool for facilitating strategic planning and implementation with regards to the five dimensions of the Energy Union. However, as it stands, the Regulation is arguably not meeting its stated objectives. Without an effective planning and implementation framework, the EU risks falling short of its climate objectives, both under the Paris Agreement and the EU's own law.

Fusion energy can contribute to closing Europes innovation gap, leveraging decarbonisation for growth, and reducing dependenciesthe essential preconditions for productivity growth that the Draghi report identifies as the existential challenge to maintaining Europes social model.
