As I understand it, European standardisation should include stakeholder participation. I was made aware of a controversy around EN 303 798 V2.0.1 in the national body. Normally ETSI publishes great work, but this EN was different. CECIMO, the European Association of Manufacturing Technologies, supports the revision of the European Standardisation Regulation to address delays in citing harmonised standards (hENs) in the Official Journal of the EU, which create legal uncertainty and hinder innovation, especially for SMEs.

1. Improvements related to standardisation requests. Challenges: There is no legal deadline for issuing standardisation requests. This means that they can be easily delayed. This is particularly problematic when legal requirements are subject to very short transition periods that cannot realistically be met by the standardisation system.

The involvement of stake-holders such as trade unions and consumer organisations is limited to the role of participation without voting rights.

We are a young and small structure based in France in the field of circular economy. We have strong expertise on very specific subjects linked to specific standards such as EN 45554, EN 45552, ISO 14024, ISO 14021. Thank you for inviting feedback: 1 - The process of recognizing standards is too slow. We are left to look at standards for old directives. Please adopt existing lists and then adjust as needed. 2 - Define a transition timeline. Without such, devices are technically immediately out of compliance with state of the art and should stop distribution. This is not good for patients or industry.
