GIMELEC welcomes the European Commissions initiative to revise the CSA, which provides a legally binding framework to address systemic supply chain risks affecting critical infrastructures, including those arising from geopolitical dependencies and manufacturer controlled remote or cloud based functionalities.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a tool to support European climate objectives. However, in its current form, its implementation will generate significant administrative burdens and increase production costs for the European factories of several GIMELEC member manufacturers. Their competitiveness against non-European competitors not subject to the same constraints will therefore be weakened.

Accelerating Electrification in Europe GIMELEC’s response to the Consultation on the EU Electrification Action Plan GIMELEC is the French trade association for manufacturers and providers of electrification, automation and digitalization technologies dedicated to energy infrastructures, buildings, industries, data centers and other infrastructures.

In the context of industrial, energy, and digital transformation, GIMELEC emphasizes that standardization is not merely technicalit is a strategic tool for sovereignty, competitiveness, and safety. The electrotechnical sector, being highly standardized and globalized, relies heavily on international standards (notably IEC), with 80% of CENELEC standards derived from them.

Annex Section 6.1 requires that active islanding detection be performed by the AC V2G EVSE. This requirement unnecessarily limits the architecture options. In particular, it excludes the possibility of performing active detection in the OBC, even though the OBC serves as the systems inverter and this architecture is comparable to one that has been proven on a large scale in the photovoltaic sector.
