This initiative will review the EU Taxonomy Environmental Delegated Act to update and simplify the technical screening criteria. Including gas and nuclear in the environmental taxonomy is a huge mistake both because of the CO2 pollution of the gas, and because of the emission of waste and the large use of water, the cooling of the reactor is not considered at all in the MRS.

Most vehicle registrations in the EU concern company fleets. Accelerating the uptake of zero-emission vehicles in corporate fleets will support the decarbonisation of the EU automotive industry and contribute to the EU’s emission reduction targets. It will also increase the availability of zero-emission second-hand vehicles. The initiative introduces minimum requirements to mobilise this potential with H2 cars.

With current and future technical translation tools, it is mandatory and civil for all EU documents to be made available in the 27 languages of the member countries. It should be borne in mind that the protection of certain marine species is essential for environmental respect. In particular, marine urchins are an endangered species, and octopus are sentient animals for which hunting causes them suffering. It would therefore be advisable to protect the 2 species by prohibiting fishing with penalties if this is done.

The revised Regulation (EU) 2018/841 (LULUCF) introduced new binding targets for Member States to generate additional land-based removals by 2030. The revised rules will help the EU achieve its external border management objectives, as set out in President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines for 2024-2029, including to make the EU’s return policy more efficient. I would also propose that consideration be given to establishing ordinary links for immigrants in Europe to be allocated to job vacancies in individual European countries.

EU rules on compiling integrated farm statistics state that EU countries have to carry out farm surveys in 2020, 2023 and 2026. However, there are no provisions for investigations to be carried out beyond 2026. It is therefore necessary to amend the legislation in order to plan farm surveys in the period 2030-2039, in particular on organic and non-organic.
