22 submissions from 22 organizations told the European Commission what they think about this file. Here is what each of them said, in their own words.
The Commission lists 133 submissions on this file. Shown here: the 22 from organizations. Not shown, by design: submissions from private individuals, which we never publish, and anything filed since our last weekly refresh.
Who showed up
13 submissions from industry — companies and their trade associations — against 5 from civil society: NGOs, consumer organizations, environmental groups and trade unions. That is 2.6 industry submissions for every one from civil society.

Generally, we welcome the revision of Regulatiob 1008/2008. 1. If the revision should consider the objectives of the "Fit for 55" package, it must include a framework for effective climate protection that eliminates carbon leakage and distortions of competition, esp. towards non-EU airlines and airports.
Dear All, The Air Services Regulation (EU 1008/2008) has been under analysis for review for some years. We recognise that the Regulation has been of benefit to both the aviation industry and European consumers. Nevertheless, the evaluation carried out in 2019 identified several areas for improvement to adapt to the changes in the functioning of the internal market for air services.
To tackle the problems concerned by the revision of the air regulation please consider that any assessment of impacts require a solid base of data to ensure that market reaction upon policy measurements or external shocks are investigated and reflected correctly on a proofed database allowing for comprehensible analyses. We are sure you are aware of this interdependency.
The aim of this evaluation must be to strengthen consumer protection - not to reduce it. Consumers need special protection, especially in times of crisis. In any case, the consultation should ask whether new regulations should also be added that are essential in terms of ensuring comprehensive consumer protection.

Method. Every quote is verbatim from the organization’s own submission to the European Commission, trimmed to its opening passage and never summarized by a model. Where a submission was filed in another EU language we show the English text the European Commission publishes alongside it, labeled on the quote; the original is one click away at the source. Groupings use the respondent type the organization itself selected when filing. We deliberately do not label anyone “supportive” or “opposed” — you read what they wrote and draw your own conclusion. Organizations only, never individuals. Reused under Commission Decision 2011/833/EU; the European Commission is not liable for this reuse.
