What they argued
The House of the Dutch Provinces (HNP), het Interprovinciaal Overleg (IPO) and the Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) call for a targeted European simplification agenda for affordable housing. Simplifying and clarifying EU legislation can increase investment capacity, shorten procedures and facilitate innovative solutions.
The Dutch provinces fully support the development of a future-proof, resilient, and integrated European energy network that facilitates electrification, decarbonisation, and security of supply. However, from our decentralised governance perspective, we encounter several challenges and opportunities in the development and utilisation of energy infrastructure.
More resources towards comprehensive network The current proposal with 9 % of the CEF funds for the comprehensive network is being proposed as a small first step towards a more balanced allocation of CEF funds. A well-functioning comprehensive network is considered essential to ensure a smooth start and flow of resources on the core network, with reduced traffic congestion and pollution.
