We would like to thank you for the opportunity to take a position in advance on the upcoming Regulation on Clean Company Vehicles. The association Baden-Württembergischer Omnibusunternehmen e.V. (WBO) represents, as an employers’ association, the interests of approximately 350 bus and coach undertakings in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, under the umbrella of the Bdo Federation in Germany.

We would ask you to consider these three points in the further procedure, in particular for coaches: Commercial vehicles are capital goods: Investment must be worthwhile to make it happen. On the one hand, the European Commission is seeking an end to internal combustion engines for heavy duty vehicles (still no date, 2037/2038?) and, on the other hand, bus manufacturers should invest in high-ambitious EURO VII…

The WBO, as the Association of Baden-Württemberg bus and coach undertakings, expressly welcomes the Commission’s draft regulation on appropriate rules specifically for coaches. Through our further training staff Combus, we train 1200 participants in around 80 training courses each year, specifically for the bus sector, as part of the professional driver qualification.

We expressly welcome the fact that the European Commission is rapidly addressing the mandate under the revision clause in Article 8 (9) of the revised Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 and consider the problem described above to be correct. We also agree that the pandemic will unfortunately not be without consequences in the sector: The number of companies, licences and authorised coaches will decrease.
