Attached you will find the co-authored position of ASI - Austrian Standards International, DIN - the German Institute for Standardization, and DKE - German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies regarding the call for evidence on the European Open Digital Ecosystem Strategy.
We welcome the European Commission's proposal for a regulation that focuses on trustworthiness and product safety of high-risk artificial intelligence (AI) for the European Single Market. AI technology will only be used across the board if it is trustworthy and finds acceptance in society. Standards play an essential role in helping to achieve a broader acceptance of AI systems and bolster trust in them.
This initiative has great implications for future technology innovation and lifecycle management. And this initiative have to think about the capabilities of future possible cases. We have attached our submission for your feedback, highlighting important aspects of interoperability of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs).
DIN is the national standardisation body of Germany. As such we would like to recommend certain changes to the CSA2 draft, that allow it to achieve its aims while avoiding certain negative implications. Particularly, we recommend three things: Firstly, to advance the process of European standards development instead of creating a parallel standard setting system.

DIN, the German national standardization body, welcomes and supports the proposal for an update of the directive on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union (NIS2 Directive) that seeks to improve resilience and incident response capacities of public and private entities as well as competent authorities.
The DIN Safety Principles Committee (NASG), as a horizontal committee, carries out standardisation work on basic and multidisciplinary safety requirements. The NASG standards are intended to inform the developer and designer of technical equipment how safety aspects can be taken into account at the design stage.

DIN, the German Institute for Standardization, welcomes the European Commission's initiative to establish ecodesign requirements for iron and steel products under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). European standardization should play a central role in implementing the delegated act.
DIN welcomes the proposed draft amendment to Regulation 1025/2012. In particular, DIN supports the emphasis on strengthening the national delegation principle. This is a core value of European standardization in CEN and CENELEC and international standardization in ISO and IEC alike. The national delegation principle facilitates engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
Please see attached file It is important to emphasize that European standardization is a well-functioning tool also in times of crisis. Specifications in times of crisis are rarely harmonized standards or "normal standardization procedures". Standardization proved its efficiency and fruitfulness right at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
