As a matter of fact cyber threats have increased manifold since the adoption of the first NIS Directive. That's why we see the imperative need for a more harmonised and future-proofed European cybersecurity framework. The proposal already strikes a reasonable balance between targeted regulatory interventions and strengthening the EU's cyber-resilience holistically.

Bitkom welcomes the reform of the UCC as it has the potential to deliver a more efficient, secure and business-friendly Customs Union. However, achieving this goal will require a common interpretation of the UCC by Member States and the actual implementation of various proposed improved customs mechanisms.

For Bitkom and its members, the safety of the products placed on the market is the top priority. Therefore the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) has a high priority for us and we appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback on the roadmap for its revision. Since its enforcement the GPSD has made a significant contribution to the safety of consumer products.
