BEUC welcomes the current initiative from the European Commission to review the Directive on security of network and information systems (NIS Directive). Recent cyberattacks confirmed the need for strong IT security of critical infrastructure. In June 2019, a cyberattack hit four hospitals in Romania. This attack led to a slowing down of admissions, discharges and prescriptions.

UNIFAB - Union des Fabricants is the French association for the promotion and defense of intellectual property rights. It represents business from all economic sectors, and provides them with an association umbrella for promoting intellectual property and fighting against counterfeiting.

UNIFAB is the French association for the promotion and protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs). Today, UNIFAB represents more than 200 French and International companies as well as professional federations; it serves as unique guardian of IP rights (IPRs) of its members, and a platform for discussions on this important topic.

BEUC welcomes the proposal for a Directive on common rules promoting the repair of goods (COM(2023)155). However, in our view the proposed measures will be insufficient to ensure that a proper right to repair is introduced for the European consumers. Several improvements are still needed (for additional details please see the attached document).

Our members are from all 27 EU Member States as well as Iceland, North Macedonia, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. A significant part of household appliances, clothes, toys and food comes from outside of the EU.

BEUC strongly welcomes the announcement of the European Commission to review the General Product Safety Directive. We agree to the problem definition as outlined in the roadmap which emphasises the challenges posed by new technologies, e-commerce and a fragmented legislative framework for market surveillance.

BEUC strongly supports the draft for a General Product Safety Regulation.
