Given the number of health-related problems associated with obesity, childhood obesity has come under close attention in the last years due to its worrying trends. The WHO estimates that 1 child in 3 in Europe is overweight or obese.
COFACE Families Europe, an European network which represents millions of families, and the European care alliance - a group of European NGOs and Trade Unions which represent persons in need of care, care workers and family carers - call on the EU legislators to clearly earmark funding for social and care policies under the next 7-year EU budget (2028-2034).

COFACE welcomes the Commission's proposal to extend the temporary derogation from specific provisions of the ePrivacy Directive for the purpose of combating online child sexual abuse. Given delays in the negotiations for the proposed Regulation on rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse, it is crucial to extend this derogation with at least two years, with the possibility to extend further if needed.
