WCS EU is a Belgian NGO affiliated with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), a global NGO working to deliver wildlife conservation programmes in over 60 countries, mainly in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Latin America, and works with governments on programmes to address wildlife trafficking.

The European Pet Organization (EPO) – representing the voice of the pet sector in Europe- and Ornamental Fish International (OFI) – representing the global ornamental sector- would like first to thank the European Commission for providing the opportunity to share their respective feedback on the EU Action Plan Against Wilidlife Trafficking.

Der Handel mit Antiquitäten und Kunstgegenständen aus Elfenbein hat nichts, und wirklich nichts, mit "wildlife trafficking" zu tun. Jeder Antiquitätenhändler ist stolz auf das Alter seiner Waren - je älter je desto besser (und umso teurer). Kunstgegenstände aus Elfenbein sind schützenswerte Bestandteile unserer Kultur und müssen geschützt bleiben.

The EU Actions Plan Against Wildlife Trafficking is a very important and useful reference whenever addressing the fight against wildlife trafficking in the public. However, we have the impression that some of the objectives have not been met and possibly have not been properly addressed, yet. The Action Plan itself is good, but we detect a lack in implementation.

Dear European Commission, Dear Lady/Sir, After reading the Wildlife trade - EU action plan (evaluation), we will provide information below on this Roadmap. Next to the following: - Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/2117 of 29 November 2019 amending Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating trade therein.

Thank you for this opportunity. I'd like to contribute with three general reflections about priority 2 (implementing and enforcing existing rules). 1) The need to know the rules and gaps across the EU MS before tackling implementation. How to have an efficient implementation if we do not know the applicable rules in every country?
