Fellesforbundet, the largest trade union in private sector in Norway, supports a revision of the public procurement directives that strengthen the social requirements and that promote sustainable procurement through efficient use of societys resources. The directives must focus on sustainable procurement in a broad sense (social, environmental and economic).

On the occasion of the European Commission’s consultation on the procurement directives, the Austrian Trade Union Confederation is making the following proposals to improve the rules on public procurement. Every year, public authorities in the EU spend around 14 % of GDP (over EUR 2.4 trillion) on procurement of works, services and goods. The Directives lay down minimum rules on public procurement.

On behalf of Fellesforbundet, (Federation of trade unions in Norway,) I will here submit our consultation response in the case of possible changes in the driving and rest time regulations for buses and coaches Fellesforbundet is the largest trade union in the private sector in Norway with a total of about 160,000 members. We organize in many occupational groups - including bus drivers.

The trade union vida is strongly opposed to any extension of driving times and reductions in rest periods. There are countless studies on the load and fatigue of bus handlers and bus handlers.
