French and European fisheries have for more than ten years undertaken considerable efforts to reconcile sustainability, environmental performance and food supply. Yet, the European Commission’s current vision appears to be disconnected from the realities on the ground, ignoring socio-economic constraints, competition for maritime space and the effects of climate change.

The National Association of Producer Organisations (ANOP) is in favour of this evaluation and analysis and wishes to reiterate the need for (i) consistency between the objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and the EU’s trade policy; (II) compliance with a fair competition framework between import products and EU products; (III) a more ambitious retrospective analysis than the one proposed.
