FOUR PAWS / VIER PFOTEN welcomes the possibility to provide feedback on the Roadmap for the revision of Directive 2005/35/EC to bring its provisions on illegal discharges at sea into line with Directive (EU) 2019/883, which requires ships to deliver their waste in ports.
ECODES (Ecology and Development Foundation) is a Spanish non-profit and independent organization, which aim is to achieve wellbeing for all people within the resource limits of the planet. ECODES forges alliances in order to accelerate the transition to a low carbon, inclusive and responsible economy.

Hazardous Waste Europe represents hazardous waste operators present in the whole value chain of hazardous waste management, from collection to final treatment. Our operators are also present on port reception facilities to provide collection, recovery - when possible - and final treatment to all Marpol Waste Annexes.
The Clean Arctic Alliance welcomes the European Commission initiative to revise the EU rules on illegal discharges from ships and to ensure comprehensive coverage of all of the MARPOL annexes within EU regulations, along with robust mechanisms for monitoring of compliance including the issues that were not considered in Directive (2005/35/EC).

Stand.earth is an international nonprofit environmental advocacy organization headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA. Our work encompasses a broad range of environmental and public health issues related to both air and water pollution from the maritime sector. We also work in close partnership on maritime pollution issues with organizations based within the EU.
Brittany Vivante is an environmental protection organisation located in Brittany, west of France. Our organisation witnessed numerous sea events leading to pollution on our coasts. For example, in 1978 the shipwreck of Amoco Cadiz escaped more than 200 000 tonnes of crude oil that soiled the coasts of northern Brittany or, in 1999, the Erika in the Bay of Biscay, which specifically named the Erika package of…

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION EUROPE (SFE) welcomes the Commission initiative to revise the EU rules on illegal discharges from ships. This Directive is a strong tool in European law to fight against marine pollution, which is in the heart of Surfrider’s mission. However, the NGO regrets that several issues are not considered in the Directive.
Method. Every quote is verbatim from the organization’s own submission to the European Commission, trimmed to its opening passage and never summarized by a model. Where a submission was filed in another EU language we show the English text the European Commission publishes alongside it, labeled on the quote; the original is one click away at the source.
