As recognised in the Safe Hearts Plan, cardiovascular diseases are closely linked with other major non-communicable diseases (NCDs), notably diabetes, obesity and chronic kidney disease.

In its position on the Safe Hearts Plan, the German Social Insurance (DSV) welcomes the European Commissions objective of reducing the high burden of cardiovascular diseases, tackling health inequalities, and strengthening the early detection of relevant risk factors.
