Huawei supports the EU’s initiative on the creation of health data space and welcomes the opportunity to comment on the combined evaluation roadmap and inception impact assessment. The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted and accelerated the importance of health data for research, and we fully support this Commission priority.

Bitkom strongly welcomes the European Commission’s efforts to create a European Health Data Space (EHDS) to unlock the potential of health data for sustainable and resilient healthcare systems. Access and (re)use of health data are preconditions to a digital transformation of healthcare systems and set the cornerstones for patient-oriented and data-driven health ecosystems for the future.

Bitkom welcomes the opportunity to give feedback on the Commission’s proposal. We are convinced that a uniform European health Data Space with transparent, efficient and innovation-promoting conditions is the central component of a connected and learn-as-you-go health sector. Our position paper provides an initial assessment of the proposal and highlights a number of points, which should be critically reviewed.

Huawei supports the Commission in its attempt to stimulate the data market and appreciates this opportunity to comment on the proposal for a Data Governance Act. Huawei is not a data company per-se but our technologies are cost-efficient enablers for data sharing services and industry initiatives. Due to this we have the expertise to comment on the current proposal and feed into the legislative debate.

If done right, the European Commission’s initial proposal on the Data Governance Act (DGA) has the potential to be an important step towards a European data economy. While previous discussions about the use of data have focused primarily on the important topic of data protection, there is an increasing awareness for the innovative potential of data, which is why we welcome that the DGA addresses all types of data…

For Bitkom and its members, the safety of the products placed on the market is the top priority. Therefore the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) has a high priority for us and we appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback on the roadmap for its revision. Since its enforcement the GPSD has made a significant contribution to the safety of consumer products.

Huawei supports legislations and policy initiatives that strengthen the safety of ICT products in the EU and modernize the legal framework to assess the safety of products using appropriate level of cybersecurity requirements and ensure that consumers can safely enjoy the most advanced technologies available on the market.
