Huawei supports the EU’s initiative on the creation of health data space and welcomes the opportunity to comment on the combined evaluation roadmap and inception impact assessment. The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted and accelerated the importance of health data for research, and we fully support this Commission priority.

BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation appreciates the opportunity to provide input to the European Commission’s ongoing evaluation of the need for a legislative proposal on a European Health Data Space. We consider that the evaluation provides a timely opportunity to ensure that sensitive data of European patients and consumers used for scientific advancements is well protected and serves societal interests.

BEUC supports the general objective of enabling data access for the common good and the development of innovative services, provided that this is carried out following a “human-centric” approach and European values and fundamental rights are fully protected and respected. The consumer should always be able to decide who gets access to his or her personal data and under what conditions.

Huawei supports the Commission in its attempt to stimulate the data market and appreciates this opportunity to comment on the proposal for a Data Governance Act. Huawei is not a data company per-se but our technologies are cost-efficient enablers for data sharing services and industry initiatives. Due to this we have the expertise to comment on the current proposal and feed into the legislative debate.

BEUC strongly welcomes the announcement of the European Commission to review the General Product Safety Directive. We agree to the problem definition as outlined in the roadmap which emphasises the challenges posed by new technologies, e-commerce and a fragmented legislative framework for market surveillance.

BEUC strongly supports the draft for a General Product Safety Regulation. Huawei supports legislations and policy initiatives that strengthen the safety of ICT products in the EU and modernize the legal framework to assess the safety of products using appropriate level of cybersecurity requirements and ensure that consumers can safely enjoy the most advanced technologies available on the market.
