BEUC supports the European Commission’s initiative to evaluate and revise the general pharmaceutical legislation to improve access to medicines. We agree with the main gaps identified in the roadmap and corrective measures, but have additional recommendations. The European Commission proposal for a revised EUs pharmaceutical legislation is a step in the right direction as it includes recommendations from BEUC on ways to improve access to medicines in Europe. ECHAMP welcomes and supports this important initiative, which will be an essential cornerstone for the Pharmaceutical Strategy. We are pleased to see that the proposal emphasizes the importance of allowing patients and citizens control over their own health data and of exploring how to facilitate the inclusion of citizen-generated data.
