What they argued
Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) appreciates the opportunity to give comments on the Call for Evidence for an Impact Assessment on the proposed EU Biotech Act. Breakthrough T1D welcomes the inclusion of diabetes in the Safe Hearts Plan and the first flagship initiative: an EU Protocol on health checks for cardiovascular diseases. However, it is essential that this and other key initiatives clearly distinguish between type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) as they differ fundamentally with respect to causes, risk-trajectory, effects, and treatments.
