In 2025, the EU updated its wine rules to boost competitiveness, manage production and open up new markets. Following the adoption of this ‘wine package’, additional rules are needed to reflect these changes. The act will complement the more flexible rules on (re) planting to allow EU countries to better control the growth of vineyards and adapt to local needs.
