The Portuguese Society of Cardiology (SPC) welcomes the proposed Council Recommendation on cardiovascular (CV) health checks. Acting early, in primary care, on a clearly defined set of risk factors will save lives, narrow inequalities and lower long-term costs. To deliver on the Safe Hearts Plan goal of cutting premature CV mortality by 25% by 2035, the Recommendation must go beyond cardiometabolic screening. 1.
