We agree with the approach proposed by the Commission and acknowledge the importance of updating the legislative framework with the lessons learnt in the recent years. However, the revision should not add to the already existing administrative burden for the Member States, but enhance flexibility and clarity.

During the energy crisis that emerged in 2021 and deepened in 2022, the Hungarian Government emphasized its belief that the key to addressing these challenges lies on the supply side, not the demand side. In our view, expanding supply sources and routes can increase the availability and volume of natural gas, effectively reducing the risk of energy supply disruptions.
