As an academic, I can contribute to European microelectronics sovereignty mainly in two ways: educate the future workforce and research novel solutions before they are ready for industry. In a capital-intensive field like microelectronics, an academic cannot be successful without help, and the Chips Act 2 should address these issues. We need an extension of the current Europractice project.
