FNSEA welcomes this Commission initiative, which aims to strengthen the place of farmers in the food supply chain. In the face of successive crises (COVID-19, soaring production costs, geopolitical tensions), farms are under pressure, and the distribution of added value remains a major challenge.

During the 2024 events, farmers called on the European Commission to reduce the administrative burden of implementing the CAP in order to make its application on the ground simpler and more feasible. FNSEA therefore supports requests from Copa Cogeca and calls for the swift adoption of this package so that its provisions can be applied from the beginning of 2026.

FNSEA thanked the European Commission for the opportunity to give its opinion on this draft amendment to the Regulation on the labelling of plant protection products. In the preamble, FNSEA wishes to reiterate its concerns about the continuous withdrawal of key active substances, which reduces the availability of effective solutions for farmers and places certain sectors in low technical situations.

FNSEA recognised EFSA’s scientific knowledge in the assessment of the risks of active substances to health and the environment.

FNSEA expressed cautious support for the proposal to extend CMC 10 to include new products derived from animal by-products. We welcome the approach to assess the potential environmental impacts of the proposed materials and the strict conditions of use imposed on each material. We are, however, vigilant about the integration of materials that would present a higher health risk than processed manure.

The FNSEA supports the initiative to improve cooperation between national authorities responsible for implementing Directive (EU) 2019/633 on unfair trading practices in the agricultural and food supply chain. This Directive marked a step forward by recognising the existence of a structural imbalance between agricultural producers and buyers in trade negotiations.
