FNSEA considers that, as it stands, the draft Data Act makes it possible for farms to make real progress, particularly in terms of controlling the use of agricultural data, and of their portabilities and interoperability. Protection against unfair contract terms involving non-personal data will foster the exchange of data sought by this draft Regulation.

Agriculture is entering a new era: Agriculture 4.0, or the digital economy, is becoming increasingly important in the production process. The amount of data produced on agricultural holdings is growing exponentially and is of interest to many actors. This prompted FNSEA to question ownership, control over the use and sharing of data on holdings, and the creation of values that emerge from this new economy.

During the 2024 events, farmers called on the European Commission to reduce the administrative burden of implementing the CAP in order to make its application on the ground simpler and more feasible. FNSEA expressed cautious support for the proposal to extend CMC 10 to include new products derived from animal by-products. We welcome the approach to assess the potential environmental impacts of the proposed materials and the strict conditions of use imposed on each material. We are, however, vigilant about the integration of materials that would present a higher health risk than processed manure.

The FNSEA supports the initiative to improve cooperation between national authorities responsible for implementing Directive (EU) 2019/633 on unfair trading practices in the agricultural and food supply chain. This Directive marked a step forward by recognising the existence of a structural imbalance between agricultural producers and buyers in trade negotiations.
