It is important, in the context of the implementation of strategies for maintaining people in the region, to introduce new courses of education which respond to the needs of young people living in the region, on the one hand, and to the needs of changing realities, on the other. One such example is the attempt to create a direction for veterinary medicine at the University of Białystok.

It is important, but above all strategic for people to be able to live in their place of origin, to put in place measures to stimulate people’s sense of well-being. This could be done through programmes to develop an optimal model of support for the well-being of residents using modern methods of intervention and prevention of mental, somatic and social health.

The European University Association welcomes the opportunity to provide input on the growing interconnections between research, innovation, and copyright policy. As noted in the call for evidence, the uneven implementation of the optional scientific research exception under Directive 2001/29/EC (Infosoc Directive) creates challenges for cross-border collaboration.

The Innovation Act can be a stepping stone to addressing persistent hurdles to Europe's competitiveness. The European University Association underlines the importance of all stakeholders in innovation ecosystems, particularly universities as the cradle of ideas that support ground-breaking innovation.

EUA looks forward to the future ERA Act, which should bring the EU closer to the achievement of a fully integrated ERA and the implementation of the 5th freedom, enabling the free movement of knowledge, research, innovation and education. EUA supports its three objectives to reach the target of investing 3% of GDP in R&I, better align investments and improve researchers framework conditions.

The European University Association (EUA) welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the discussion on dual use and its future role in EU programmes. The European Commission's White Paper reflects the growing importance of this issue in a challenging geopolitical context and resonates with wider debates on security within the research and innovation sector.

The European Commission's proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework presents encouraging steps forward while at the same time showing areas of concern for the university sector. The European University Association is highly supportive of eIDAS as a tool for interoperability and its possibilities for increasing trust digital education credentials. However, care needs to be taken in the implementation so that standards and tools that are already in use are still possible to maintain in the new system.
