While not every instance of a Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) results in disability, RMDs comprise the largest cause of physical disability in the EU and account for over 50% percent of Years Lived with Disabilities (YLDs) in Europe. Unfortunately, people do not associate RMDs with disability because the cause of disability is often invisible.
The Quality Jobs Roadmap is a key opportunity for the EU to affirm that employment must not come at the expense of health. Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs), affecting over 120 million Europeans, are a growing but under-recognised threat to the EU workforce, competitiveness, and the green and digital transitions.
