Thank you for providing the opportunity for the feedback. I believe it is a good moment to rethink the role of chip design. I feel Europes chip design capabilities have received comparatively less attention. As we look ahead, the next phase of the Chips Act could benefit from a stronger focus on design competitiveness. This perspective is also in line with the European Commissions recent statements on September 29.

Complex materials are basis for the technological advancement of society. At the same time, increasing number of raw materials required by many of these advanced materials are being categorized as critical by the EU. To mitigate climate change and geopolitical challenges related to production of advanced materials, their efficient recycling should be given attention.
Position Paper 03/2026 1 (3) Aalto University’s comments to call for evidence for a Revision of the EIT Regulation and of the Strategic Innovation Agenda EIT’s mission is even more important and worth the effort nowadays than when the KICs were first founded. Europe’s competitiveness hinges on tighter innovation ecosystems, stronger knowledge-triangle integration and faster knowledge-to-market translation.
