Fairtrade International commends the initiative of the Commission to develop a European Climate law for Europe’s economy and society to become climate-neutral by 2050. It is an important signal to underpin the EU commitment to take on a leadership role and to increase its contribution in the global fight against climate change.
The European Roundtable on Climate Change and Sustainable Transition (ERCST) welcomes the opportunity to comment on the European Commission’s proposal for a regulation establishing the framework for achieving climate neutrality (The European Climate Law). FORATOM fully supports the EU’s 2050 climate-neutrality objective and considers the development of a law which complements the existing policy framework and established clear objectives as essential. Surfrider Foundation Europe welcomes the EC ambition in reaching climate neutrality by 2050. However, we are disappointed to see that the Climate Law did not contain any mention of the ocean, despite the role it plays in regulating climate and absorbing CO2 emissions.

1. Full decarbonisation instead of carbon neutrality by 2050 needed The EU commitment to tackle global warming is an important signal. However, carbon neutrality or net-zero is not the same as the needed full decarbonisation of our energy systems.
PGE guarantees a safe and reliable power supply to over 5 million households, businesses and institutions. PGE is consequently reducing its CO2 exposure aiming at ca. 60 million of CO2 tonnes saved cumulatively within the 2016-2026 timeline. The total budget of PGE for low-carbon projects until 2030 amounts to ca.
EdEn (Equilibre des Energies) recommends that the EU Climate Law should integrate the following provisions: - It should be specified that the trajectory mentioned in article 3 paragraph 1 is a trajectory for greenhouse gas emission reduction. It is necessary to specify that the trajectory that shall be set out is a GHG emission reduction trajectory.
With current 2030 reduction pledges, we are set on a pathway towards a 3-3.2°C increase in temperature. Countries, however, agreed in Paris to limit the increase in temperature to 1.5°C. The new European Commission has promised to place the fight against climate change at the center of its political agenda for the next 5 years with its European Green Deal.
FNADE, the French association for Depollution and Environmental Activities, welcomes the proposal for a European climate regulation that sets ambitious but necessary targets to achieve the carbon neutrality by 2050 set by the Green Deal. FNADE brings together 223 companies and 48,000 employees.

I'm from Latvia. It's also an EU country and I do think that 2050 is a much too broad and long term for the achievement of the climate neutrality. We should be able to do it more efficiently in a shorter period of time. We are able to do it, so we should do everything in our hands to fight the climate crisis as soon and as productive as possible.
Eurogypsum supports the European Commission’s plans for an ambitious Climate Law. The States Parties to the Paris Agreement agreed to limit the increase in temperature to 1.5 °C, in the IPCC assessment, which is much safer for our civilisation than 2 °C. however, the current 2030 emission reduction targets set us on the path to temperature rise of 3-3.2 °C.

The new European Commission has promised to place the fight against climate change at the centre of its political agenda for the next 5 years with its European Green Deal.
Exceptional circumstances. A lot points to the fact that we are at the crossroads of climate change, which is vulnerable to changes made by humans. The global warming of the planet is escaping the control and influence of the people’s beauty and industrial civilisation which it has created. This is likely to be the last moments when we can weaken disasters and save humanity or at least part of humanity.

Through co-organizing the climate strikes with Fridays for future, the GSM raises awareness about the climate crisis which have so far resulted in the Danish government passing the first binding climate law.

Achieving the climate neutrality objective by 2050, which will be enshrined in legislation by the Climate Law, will require a full commitment from all sectors of the economy and the society as a whole. It will also require clear and ambitious targets to steer our actions towards the required optimum.
In light of the European Commission’s Climate Law Roadmap CEWEP would like to highlight how waste management can contribute to EU climate neutrality by 2050. Landfill diversion is a low hanging fruit for climate mitigation. In 2017, about 58 million tonnes of municipal waste were still landfilled in Europe, rising to around 175 million tonnes if all waste streams are considered.
Never before has it been more important to act on the climate crisis. Private sector has a critical role to play in the transition. The Swedish Steel Producers Association (Jernkontoret) supports the EU-goal of reaching climate-neutrality by 2050, and would like to submit the following feedback on the consultation regarding roadmap for the proposal for a climate law.
We welcome the EU’s ambition to realise the long-term carbon neutrality objective through socially-fair and cost-efficient policies. The climate emergency is a major threat to public health. This submission, on behalf of the Southern Environmental Law Center, focuses on the need to properly account for bioenergy emissions if the EU is to achieve its net-zero targets. EU climate policies, and the national policies/subsidies which stem from them, incorrectly categorize all bioenergy as carbon neutral at the point of combustion.
