Summary
GeneratedThe European Climate Law sets binding EU targets: net GHG cuts of at least 55% by 2030 and 90% by 2040 versus 1990, with climate neutrality by 2050. Amended in 2026, it caps 2030 net removals at 225 Mt CO2e and allows international credits up to 5% of 1990 emissions from 2036. In force; the Commission must report on implementation every two years from 6 March 2027.
