Yara International, a global leader in crop nutrition, ammonia and essential industrial solutions, welcomes the European Commissions initiative to increase circularity in the EU single market. The transition towards a circular economy continues to gain relevance in the fertilizer industry, especially since resource efficiency and sustainability are key drivers of competitiveness.

What they argued
Yara welcomes the proposed Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA) and supports its objective to strengthen European industrial capacity and accelerate decarbonization, notably through the explicit inclusion of the chemical sector and other energyintensive industries.
We welcome the initiative to establish green lead markets as a key pillar of the Clean Industrial Deal. Without sufficient demand for low-carbon products, it is not economically feasible for energy-intensive industries to decarbonize. This is also true for the ammonia and fertilizer sector where the hydrogen production step makes the production energy-intensive.
Yara International welcomes the European Commissions initiative on the Biotech Act II and its ambition to strengthen industrial biotechnology, create lead markets, and accelerate the transition towards a circular and climate-neutral economy. At Yara, we are committed to responsibly feeding the world while protecting the planet, with the ambition of becoming climate neutral by 2050.
Yara appreciates the European Commissions initiative to review the renewable energy framework with the aim of meeting EU climate goals while ensuring competitiveness and sustainability through new enabling measures.
Yara International is Europe's leader in ammonia and fertilizer production as well as the world leader in ammonia trade. The draft Implementing Regulation allows for carbon credits or other emission units purchased under a baseline-and-credit emissions trading system to be considered equivalent to allowances paid under an emissions trading system.
It is essential that DPP Service Providers use standardized formats and protocols to ensure interoperability across different sectors and support operational flexibility. This will facilitate seamless integration and data exchange, reducing the burden on manufacturers to comply with varying requirements while ensuring compliance.
