Please find attached the DNA-position paper of VAUNET - German Media Association. VAUNET is the umbrella organization for private audio and audiovisual media companies in Germany and the largest representative body of commercial broadcasting interests in Europe. It represents the interests of around 160 member companies from the TV, radio, web and streaming sectors.
VAUNET Association of Private Media thanked for the opportunity to comment on a Digital Networks Act, briefly: Digital Networks Act or DNA. VAUNET is the umbrella association of private audiovisual media in Germany. TV, radio, web and streaming services are among the diverse business areas of the approximately 150 members.

VAUNET welcomes the European Commissions planned AI Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors. AI offers significant opportunities for private media companies to innovate, increase efficiency and develop new services. At the same time, it is fundamentally changing the conditions for production, distribution, rights management, market access and the refinancing of professional media content.

VAUNET considers the existing EU copyright framework to remain broadly fit for purpose. The review, and any targeted initiative that may follow, should focus on making the current rules work in practice. AI can be a powerful driver of innovation, economic growth and better journalism and audiovisual services.

Digital Services Act (DSA): Media stands for a secure and trustworthy online environment The final objectives of “deepening and further developing the Digital Single Market” and the establishment of uniform rules for a “safe, predictable and trustworthy online environment” are welcome by the European Commission in the DSA.
