Unpackt e.V. welcomes in principle the objective of harmonising registration and reporting under extended producer responsibility across Europe. Uniform digital procedures can reduce administrative burdens and make the implementation of the PPWR more transparent. At the same time, more attention needs to be paid to small and micro-enterprises and business models that avoid packaging at source.

The Unpackt e.V., representing its approximately 290 members, warmly welcomes the planned act on the circular economy. At the same time, we would like to stress that a truly circular economy does not start from recycling, but much earlier in waste prevention and in the use of reusable systems. Waste prevention before recycling is the most effective resource that is not consumed at all.
