ÖAMTC Position on the revision of the Roadworthiness Package Roadworthiness environment • The Roadworthiness Package must fit the related needs of the individual Member States to keep up functioning testing frameworks and to improve less effective testing frameworks. • The coordination between type-approval and the roadworthiness package needs to be considered.

Summary of our opinion (the detailed opinion can be found in the annex) The ÖAMTC has long stressed the importance of passengers enjoying the same high level of protection when switching between modes of transport during a journey as passengers travelling by air, rail, bus, sea and inland waterway.

ÖAMTC thanked for the opportunity to comment. As a preliminary point, we would like to highlight the main points: — Mobility must remain affordable for all. Therefore, Euro 7 legislation must not have the effect of making it impossible in future to offer small and medium-sized vehicles with an internal combustion engine which are attractive to consumers, or to withdraw them from the market at all.

Independent Service providers (ISPs) are currently dependent on what is offered by vehicle manufacturers (VM), despite competing with them in their role as service providers. The current legal framework creates a competitive disadvantage for ISPs, while neglecting the consumer’s central role in the data sharing ecosystem.

The Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC) is Austria’s largest mobility club and represents the interests of over two million members. Protecting the rights of consumers: women, car drivers, other mobiles and travellers is particularly important for ÖAMTC and can bring a lot of practical experience to club lawyers through legal advice.

From the consumer’s point of view, important issues are regulated: No additional cost if you return the car at a different location than where you collected it. No additional costs for cross-border journeys – no additional costs for 2nd driver – no additional costs for older/younger drivers. —Security for tenants that the vehicle will be in the booked category.
