Consultation response EU Arctic Policy Update. We welcome the Commissions initiative to update the EUs Arctic Policy. In our view, safeguarding the Arctic requires maintaining the EUs commitment to a moratorium on new hydrocarbon exploration north of the Arctic Circle and establishing a clear timeline for phasing out existing Arctic oil and gas activities. The Arctic is one of the planets most fragile ecosystems.
