Saami Council, (SC) supports and welcomes the EU´s forest monitoring legislation (FML) proposal. However, SC expresses deep concern regarding the omission of Indigenous Peoples rights in the proposal. SC urges the integration of Indigenous knowledge, and the recognition of Indigenous rights to be significantly strengthened and respected throughout the development of FML.
