Södra Input to the Call for Evidence on Biotech Act II About Södra Founded in 1938, Södra is Swedens largest forest-owner association with over 50,000 members. Together, they own a world-leading industrial operation producing renewable products such as pulp, timber, building systems and bioproducts. Södra employs around 3,200 people and reported sales of SEK 28 billion in 2025.
The publication does not clearly outline how a potential third-country certificateissued in cases where carbon pricing has been paid in the country of originis to be administered, verified, and approved by the receiving parties. This requires further clarification to ensure transparency and consistency in implementation.
Södra appreciates the opportunity to comment on the European Commissions Roadmap towards Nature Credits. As a member owned forest owners cooperative with over 50,000 members and a long tradition of sustainable forestry, we welcome the ambition to develop a voluntary, transparent and science based framework that promotes biodiversity and strengthens natures role in the European economy.
While reporting based on actual values is theoretically preferable, it often proves challenging in practice due to variations in supply chains and the complexity of products and materials. To facilitate reporting using standardized values, we propose the publication of country or region-specific tables containing standard values for each material.
Comments Södra considers that there is a great deal of better fibre identification and labelling of text-titanium, partly to make it better for consumers to make more informed decisions, but above all to facilitate the management of textile waste for both reuse and recycling.
