30 years have passed since the concept of “endocrine disruptors” (EDCs) was developed at the Wingspread Congress on 26-28 July 1991. The Health Environment Network (RES), which initiated the ban on Bisphenol A in feeding bottles, has long advocated the establishment of horizontal criteria for EDCs chemicals.

The Health Environment Network (RES) welcomes the opportunity to comment on the European plan to revise the European legislation on food contact materials (FCM). Many harmful chemicals, including substances already identified as SVHC, are currently not subject to sufficiently strict restrictions to protect human health. In particular, endocrine disruptors should not be tolerated in food contact materials.
