Proxima Fusion welcomes the ambition of the European Innovation Act to create an innovation-friendly Single Market and remove structural barriers holding back European deep-tech scale-ups. We strongly support the goal of reducing regulatory fragmentation and increasing access to research infrastructure, finance, and talent across borders.
Advanced materials are central to Europes ability to lead in clean industrial technologies, including fusion energy. For stellarators in particular, material performance under high neutron flux, complex geometries and strict magnetic tolerances determines both feasibility and cost. Current material families present significant limitations.
Proxima Fusion is a European deep-tech company designing the first generation of stellarator power plants. Our work depends on high-performance enabling technologies including cryogenics, control electronics, advanced materials etc. many of which overlap with quantum technology value chains. We therefore welcome the Quantum Acts focus on industrialisation, supply-chain resilience and strategic autonomy.
Proxima Fusion is Europes fastest growing energy start-up and the first spin-out of the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics.
