The future role of the EU in the External Action Strategy for fisheries should be aimed at consolidating the activity of the EU’s external fleet and ensuring a minimum level of food sovereignty and sustainability in the Union, avoiding that fisheries supply can be left to third countries in the medium term, thereby avoiding the profound problems affecting other sectors of the EU economy.
