We welcome the Commission's 2040 Vision and wish to highlight concerns regarding the promotion of insect meal as a sustainable feed for aquaculture. 1. Economic non-viability Insect meal costs 3,5005,000 per tonne, 2 to 10 times more than fishmeal and soybean meal (Leipertz et al., 2024; Biteau et al., 2024).
