As a preliminary point, we would like to thank the Commission for the opportunity to comment on this initiative. The Czech Republic takes the view that the national forest inventory (NIL), which provides an overview of the state of forests in the context of individual Member States, is a proven method of monitoring. Nile is a flexible instrument that also affects forest biodiversity.
