The implementation of the objectives of the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD, (EU) 2019/904) varies too widely across Member States. This leads not only to a weakening of the European single market, but also to unnecessary bureaucratic burdens for businesses. The SUPD extended producer responsibility for certain single-use plastic products to collection in public spaces.

(MIV), welcomes the opportunity to provide comments on the European Commission’s In-ception Impact Assessment (IIA) on a revision of EU marketing standards (Ares (2021)427166 of 19.01.2021). A scientific definition of “sustainable products” is crucial before new legislation is proposed.
MIV, the association of the German dairy industry, would like to make the following comments on art. 148 CMO: The proposed measures to reinforce contractual relations in the milk sector (art. 148 CMO) will not strengthen the position of farmers in the food supply chain. On the contrary, the current price transmission mechanisms will be weakened.

The Directive on Unfair Trading Practices and its implementation in Germany has proven effective in reducing several unfair trading practices used by companies buying dairy products. Many contracts have been adjusted. The contact and exchange with the implementing agency works well, but it lacks personnel capacity. Although it is possible to introduce anonymous complaints, the fear factor is still high.
