Lo, TCO and Saco thank for the opportunity to comment on the European Commission’s initiative for a 28th corporate regime (EU Inc.). We see a risk that the proposal may create legal uncertainty and have undesirable consequences for the Swedish and European labour market. Simplifying company structures at EU level can be a legitimate objective.

LO’s response to the European Commission’s consultation on the Citizens’ aromnibus LO initiative thanks for the opportunity to comment on the upcoming Citizens’ aromnibus initiative of the European Commission. Lo welcomes the intention to make it easier for EU citizens and persons legally residing in Sweden to reap the benefits of the internal market.

Lo Sweden thanks for the opportunity to provide input in the context of the European Commission’s initiative on a European Strategy for Vocational Education and Training. Here are our thoughts: It is important that all vocational training is qualitative, nationally viable and developed with the social partners in each sector. More places in work-based learning (APL) are needed.

Lo is basically in favour of proposals on fair labour mobility. Freedom of movement is important but it has also enabled cross-border labour criminality through, inter alia, the use of letterbox companies, tax evasion, social security fraud and the exploitation of workers posted between EU countries and from third countries.

LO clearly sees a value in ELA contributing to the exchange of experience between national authorities. A general reflection though is that ELA still is a young authority and therefore should be allowed more time to perform and improve on its current duties. LO believes that the current mandate of the ELA is in line with what we perceive as the role of the authority.
LO Norway acknowledges that equipping European railways for better interoperability and facilitating greater mobility across borders is a good intention. We also support high ambitions for railway safety, as well as increasing the market share of the sustainable transport that railways provide.
A general reflection on the European Social Security Pass is that, like the EHIC for healthcare abroad from the Social Insurance Agency, it seems to be a positive development for citizens. Lo sees no negative aspects in introducing such a card. It would simplify access to protection and reduce the risk of errors and fraud, which is key to maintaining trust.
