Legambiente agrees with the aim of reducing the use of synthetic mineral fertilisers, replacing them with equivalent products obtained from waste biological matrices (RENURE), with a view to the circular economy and reduction of output.
Legambiente strongly opposes the European Commissions proposal to include the Indian ship recycling yards Shree Ram and YSI Recyclers, located in Alang-Sosiya, on the EU List of approved ship recycling facilities. Both yards operate using the beaching method, whereby ships are brought directly onto tidal beaches and dismantled there.

The inception impact assessment document provides a very good introduction to the topic, and we are very supportive of most of the statements made. The best policy option for consumers and the environment is indeed option 3. We would like to insist on three key points: 1/ Ecodesign requirements should be pursued, but thoroughly revised and reinforced to better reflect current technologies and practices.
