As the Chamber of Crafts in Dresden, we represent the interests of some 21.000 Saxon craft businesses, which mainly operate as small and micro-enterprises. The core business for their products and services is mostly in the region. However, because of the individual nature of craft products and services, and not least because of our geographical proximity to two other EU Member States, there is also foreign demand.

The Dresden Chamber of Crafts welcomes the European Union’s efforts to strengthen the internal market in the construction sector by means of a planned Construction Services Act. At present, there are still significant legal, administrative and tax obstacles that discourage cross-border provision of services, in particular by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
