Combined transport is one of the main drivers for achieving the ambitious growth targets for rail freight. In the context of the forthcoming revision of the Combined Transport Directive, the potential of intermodal solutions must be exploited.

SNCF Group very much welcomes the consultation launched by the European Commission regarding the VAT rules on passenger transport. SNCF Group has been calling for a long time for a fiscal level playing field between the different modes of transport, in particular when it comes to VAT. The difference in treatment between modes gives a clear advantage to the air sector both financially and administratively.

The position of SNCF on the Telematics TSI EN07 is following. ERA published the TAF/TAP recommendations in January 2022 after 4 years of work by the ERA TAF and TAP working parties according to the TSI revision mandate (decision 2017/1474) and traceability of the modifications in the ERA CCM Revision tool. As first output an intermediate revision was included by amendment in TAF TSI in 2021.

Block exemption regulation on the application of Articles 93 and 108 of the Treaty to State aid for the land transport sectorfiled 3 Apr 2024PDFsource

The SNCF group welcomes the Commission’s decision to adopt soon a block exemption regulation for land transport, which aims to simplify the allocation of aid in order to promote and support less polluting modes of transport, in particular rail. Several aid schemes that have proven to be effective should benefit from this exemption and in particular aid for the transport of goods.
